I am a linux and open-source software enthusiast living in Cape Town, South Africa.

I currently work for the University of Cape Town (UCT) as the Unix Systems Administrator in the Department of Computer Science. Before that, I worked for the Technical Support Services department of Information and Communication Technology Services (ICTS) as a Network Infrastructure Technical Specialist.

In 2009 I began a Masters degree in Information Technology in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cape Town. I currently hold a Bachelor of Social Science degree from the University of Cape Town and a Bachelor of Arts (Social Science) Honours degree from the University of South Africa.

I am currently a committee member of the Western Cape Linux Users Group (CLUG). I previously served as the Secretary for a number of years. I am also actively involved in the University of Cape Town Linux Enthusiasts Group (LEG) as one of the core members.

My technical interests are predominantly in the areas of unix (especially linux), open-source software, open content, computer programming (especially in python) and task automation. My non-technical interests include swimming, gardening, reading and wood working.

I am married to Gillian and we have two daughters, Jenna and Robyn .
