LEG dates back to around 1996, before CLUG, and is probably the oldest Linux organisation in Africa. These days LEG is the branch of CLUG responsible for running the CLUG/LEG servers at UCT, providing FTP mirrors (primarily to UCT), and keeping a Freedom Toaster going.
LEG attempts to promote the use of Linux (and free software) at UCT, and provide the infrastructure to support it wherever possible. As a community organisation run by volunteers, we aim to provide the best support we can, and hope to supplement the Linux support that ICTS have recently declared that they will provide.
