Debian 5.04 iso

Hi,
I am trying to download the Debian 5.04 isos, but have tried using jigdo-lite for windows to get it. Unfortunately its still not working. Here are the settings I use for it.

jigdo=’http://ftp.leg.uct.ac.za/pub/linux/debian-isos/5.0.4/amd64/jigdo-dvd/debian-504-amd64-DVD-1.jigdo’
debianMirror=’http://ftp.leg.uct.ac.za/pub/linux/’
nonusMirror=”
tmpDir=’.’
jigdoOpts=’—cache jigdo-file-cache.db’
wgetOpts=’—passive-ftp —dot-style=mega —continue —timeout=30’
 scanMenu=”

debianMirror

add a debian/ to the end of debianMirror or use http://ftp.leg.uct.ac.za/debian

debianMirror

Thanks, working now. Encountered another error, jigdo-file failed with code 126, which was fixed with specifying the tmp directory in the settings file.

Debian Fresh Install

Hi,
I managed to burn Debian 5.04 to dvd. On trying to install, I am getting an error, Kernel panic - not syncing Attempted to kill init! From google searches I get random hits with problems ranging from PCI controller problems to HDD problems. I have managed to install ubuntu in the past so was wondering what course of action I should take to remedy this. Here is information from lspci from fedora:

RE: Debian Fresh Install

On trying to install, I am getting an error, Kernel panic - not syncing Attempted to kill init!

Hard to say what’d cause that. The messages directly before that would probably be the most informative.

Most likely either bad hardware or hardware that’s too new and not supported by Debian lenny. Tried a squeeze CD? Or an ubuntu one from that era to see if it also won’t boot (i.e. hardy)?

Debian Squeeze Install

I tried the squeeze (assuming that was the netinst one about 135MB in size) and still got the same error. I copied down some of the info before the kernel panic.

kernel-init+0x0/0x29C
chid-rip+0x0/0x12
RIP __mutex_lock_slowpath+0x31/0x9b
RSP
 CR2:00000000000000

end trace

can you possibly grab a

can you possibly grab a photograph of the screen when it’s paniced?

Photos

I have tried to the best of my ability to take a photo of the last page before kernel panics. I have uploaded them to my leg home directory. Check them out and tell me if you can make heads or tails of them.

ACPI

that was an ACPI code path. Try booting with noacpi on the kernel command line.

Worked

Thanks, managed to install debian. Learnt something new about linux booting, that one can specify booting options.
