The search function on this site isn’t working for me so I don’t know if this has been asked before.
A lot of the science students require Python packages to get their work done, but the PyPI CDN doesn’t have a node nearby, making downloads painfully slow sometimes.
Is there any chance that LEG would consider maintaining a PyPI mirror? I believe, once science tutors become aware of the mirror, some of the computing tuts will start out much smoother.
While PyPI doesn’t support “official” mirrrors anymore, there’s still a reliable (recommended) way of running a private mirror: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/bandersnatch
